The History of LHS
Over four decades after its inception, Lutheran High School continues to “Prepare Christian Leaders - One Student at a Time." Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School rose from the dreams and prayers of many believers in Sheboygan County. After much prayer and preparation, the first administrator was called in 1977. In the fall of 1978 the high school became a reality when it opened the doors of the Ebenezer Church Education building to 36 freshmen and sophomore students. The following year, Lutheran High moved to the St. Paul Education Center in nearby Sheboygan Falls. The Hoppert Farm was purchased as the future site of the school. Construction of the Lutheran High School building became a reality in 1980, with students, faculty, and staff moving into the facility in the spring of 1981. The Taproot Club was formed at that time to build a firm foundation of support for the high school. That year also saw the first graduating class of eight students. Since then, additions and changes have been made to the building and grounds of the high school. The addition of a 600-seat performing arts center, science labs, robotics and computer lab, gymnasium, athletic fields, upgraded technology, and an additional wing of classrooms has made the school what it is today. |
